Data values for the year 2017-18 is till August-end 2017; Date on lending rate relate to five major Public Sector Banks upto 2003-04. For the subsequent years, the data relate to five major banks; Date on lending rate relate to either Prime Lending Rate (PLR) or Benchmark Prime Lending Rates (BPLR) or Base Rate (BPLR) or Base Rate or Marginal Cost of Funds Based Lending Rate (MCLR) (overnight), as the case may be, for the relevant year; BPLR system, effective November 2003, was replaced by the Base Rate System, effective July 1, 2010; Base Rate System effective from July 1, 2010 was replaced by MCLR System effective from April 1, 2016; Source: Reserve Bank of India and also published in statistical year book 2018 by MOSPI
